Sometimes I take the scenic route into town

That is the scenic route, also, presumably less traffic that way. I have no scenic route from Milwaukee to the south end of Downtown, well, unless you count Sellwood as scenic

That's an easy one. This was last week for me, a lengthy roadtrip trough the Alps:

Sellwood is a scene... I am usually in a hurry to get to town so I avoid Skyline/Germantown but late at night by myself? Yeeeeeep! Or sometimes going to grandmas house in Scappoose I get to travel along Cornelius Pass to St. Helens Rd, but also I am usually stuck behind someone going 17mph. The gravel trucks do at least 50! Step on it people!

Lucky dog... Is your family name "Lang", by any chance?
Never mind - Duurt Lang is a band, or DJ?

I get to take 224 -> 99E -> US26 Ross Island Bridge to work every day, hardly scenic in the least, always stop and go, and on the weekends, usually cops here and there, no fun to be had.
However if I was driving my 1972 bus, if the damn thing ran, well, anything would be a fun drive

Really wish I had an option like this...

It is not. duurtlang is somewhat of a play of worths in Dutch. Lang does mean long in Dutch. The duurt part has to do with duration. It basically means that something takes forever.

I'm of German descent, and my family name is Lange (and we're tall).
Found a reference - "takes a long time"?
It looked like slow-going on that narrow road!

It really was slow going down that narrow road. It was quite a steep decline and the poor quality road was only one car wide, even though it was a two way road. I haven't uploaded any faster videos just yet. I didn't even upload this one, it was my co driver who did. Due to the lack of real cameras we didn't film much though.

It's got to be this one
It's a wonderfully twisty mountain road with some asphalt and some dirt/gravel. About 20 miles with an amazing view of the valley.
Check out the turn-by-turn directions Google Maps gave me

We run into some of those in Arkansas (usually with plenty of washout on the road).

My 80 miles of fun.
Only really makes sense for me if I stay in Portland for a night or two.

To get to Monterey from the south, you can either take 101 to salinas, then head west (the fast way), take 1 through big sur (the pretty and touristy way) or you can cut through the hills past Arroyo Seco (the most fun drive).

Actually, I drove the day before yesterday. The South Grade of Palomar Mountain in San Diego. I tried my best to get it to fit in the maps window but bits of it got cut off. The corners are much tighter than Google Maps would have you think.
Most notable for the sheer amount of bikers flying down it at 80+ mph trying to kill themselves. The whole drive is either up at a decent angle or back down at a seemingly steeper angle.
As for my next one, the only one I might go to is Highland Valley, which is another twisty back road up in North County San Diego. I'm still hunting for other fun drives to do in SD, as mostly everything is straight and full of traffic.
